The Redwood Study is currently enrolling adults 18 to 75 years of age with Alpha-1 Liver Disease. The purpose of the study is to evaluate how safe and effective an investigational study drug is compared to a placebo (both groups will receive injections, but the placebo contains no active medication) in the treatment of liver disease.
If you or any of your family members have a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of Alpha-1 Liver Disease, you may be eligible. A participating research site can confirm a diagnosis of Alpha-1 Liver Disease as well as other study criteria to determine eligibility. Bronchiectasis Understanding and Research on Daily Experiences and Needs or The BURDEN initiative is a research project to examine the impact of Non-Cystic Fibrosis Bronchiectasis (NCFBE) on the everyday life of people living with NCFBE and their caregivers. It is also commonly referred to as bronchiectasis (without cystic fibrosis) or just bronchiectasis. Bronchiectasis is a chronic, often progressive lung disease characterized by irreversible and abnormal widening of the bronchi and chronic symptoms. For more information, click here!

As we begin delivering the objectives of 2025, our research team focus in January (beyond the recruitment efforts above) is on the completion, analysis and reporting of two surveys: (i) the impact of atopic dermatitis/chronic eczema on patients and caregivers and (ii) mental health impact of chronic disease, a project led by the GAAPP Eastern Europe Alliance. We also have a few meeting abstracts and publications in the works.
I recently shared on LinkedIn a video report on 2024 activities completed by the Innovative Respiratory Endpoints Network (IREN) a collaborative project initiated by AstraZeneca that brings together international experts focused on improving access to tools such as the recently validated composite clinical trial endpoints CompEx asthma and CompEx COPD. You will hear a lot about CompEx this year. You can learn more here.
