To our GAAPP Community:

For many, summer is coming to a close, as others are settled into winter. At GAAPP, we are preparing for a busy September and October with many global events and awareness days to promote.

GAAPP continues to grow and has reached 80 members worldwide! We are grateful for the opportunity to align our efforts to better serve patients, their families, and caregivers. We strive to provide the resources your organization needs to achieve your mission and continue to offer opportunities to receive communication grants, including the payment for translation services to provide our materials to your members. Contact GAAPP to learn more.

Did you know that GAAPP offers our member organizations project funding? Funding requests are reviewed on a quarterly basis. The next review will be in September. Please submit your requests by 15 September for review this quarter! View Funding Request Information.

23092 GSK EE Asthma Patient Diaries_Thumbnail.png

My Asthma Diary, a joint collaborative project between GAAPP and GSK, was created to present Health Care Professionals and medical teams the patient perspectives on living with severe asthma, and to enhance understanding amongst HCPs of its impact over time thanks to the valuable insights of Irantzu Muerza (Spain), Brenda Young (USA), and Christian Ukegbu (Nigeria).

Share the videos with your community and help us spread the voice of people living with severe asthma globally.

The SPEAK UP FOR COPD campaign has one critical goal: to increase the awareness and understanding of COPD among policymakers and healthcare systems. Over 1,200 people have lent their voices to SPEAK UP FOR COPD. Will you lend yours?

Tobacco Survey Results

GAAPP partnered with the COPD Foundation and Lung Foundation Australia to survey individuals with chronic lung diseases to assess the response of tobacco corporations’ ownership of lung disease treatments.

We found that 70% of respondents, from regions around the world, were unhappy with this development. In addition, free text feedback received was overwhelmingly negative in nature at 78%. Survey results, as well as anonymous feedback provided, have been published in the official journal of the British Thoracic Society, Thorax, titled Tobacco industry ownership of pharmaceutical companies: an international survey of people with respiratory disease
