GRS22 Header FINAL.png

GAAPP held its annual Global Respiratory Summit on 2 September in Barcelona with 30 patient advocacy groups in attendance and an additional 36 registered to attend virtually. The day included an overview of the last year of GAAPP activities, campaigns, and projects followed by two interactive breakout sessions.

The first breakout session was divided by disease focus with group representing Asthma, COPD, and Rare Disease. These groups were tasked with identifying a priority message to drive awareness, as well as crafting messages to the patient community and health care providers, and concluding with a policy change need to improve outcomes.

The second Breakout session was segmented by regional representation, APAC, Africa + the Middle East, Balkan region, Europe, Ibero-America, and North America. The intent of these group was to discuss the challenges faced in these regions, potential solutions, and identify collaborations to achieve these goals.

Stay tuned for a comprehensive report from GAAPP with future plans created from these groups! View our group overviews.

Board of Directors Announcements

It is with mixed emotion that we announce that GAAPP Secretary Vanessa Foran has resigned from her position on the GAAPP Board of Directors. Vanessa has left her role as CEO of Asthma Canada after an outstanding six years that has expanded education and awareness, and improved policy and access to medication for patients in Canada. She will join the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society in October. We wish Vanessa well in her future endeavors and will miss her presence and leadership in GAAPP.

The Board will be appointing a new Director to this vacated seat until the next election cycle next spring. If you have an interest in representing GAAPP on our Board of Directors, please contact GAAPP
