A proclamation for a “World Awareness Day” is an official statement or declaration issued by a government, organization, or authority to recognize and raise awareness about a specific global issue or cause on a designated day. It often aims to inform the public, highlight the importance of the issue, and encourage actions or initiatives to address it. Proclamations can be issued by national governments, local municipalities, or international bodies like the United Nations, and they typically outline the significance of the day, the theme for that year, and the goals or objectives associated with it.
To file a proclamation, usually a volunteer will fill out an online form, or write a letter or email to their local representative. Sometimes it requires searching online to find the contact information for your local government leader. You’ll send them a letter or email explaining why you are raising awareness and an example proclamation. Don’t worry, we’ll provide you with tools, templates, and examples to accomplish this!
Sometimes the actual proclamation document will be mailed to you. If that’s the case, we’d love for you to send a photo to us to share with our whole community!
Other times, you might be offered the opportunity to meet with your local government leader to witness the proclamation being signed in person. This is a great way to tell your local government about the disease you advocate for.
