GLOBAL PATIENT ORGANIZATIONS JOIN FORCES TO DEMAND THAT ECUADOR’S GOVERNMENT GUARANTEE ACCESS TO TREATMENT FOR CHRONIC RESPIRATORY DISEASES

The Global Allergy & Airways Patient Platform (GAAPP), the Pan-American organization “Latin Health Leaders” (LHL), and the Ecuadorian organization “Respiros de Esperanza” denounce the worsening situation of access to treatment for patients with chronic respiratory diseases (prevalent and rare) that patients in Ecuador suffer from and that has led to an increase in premature deaths and reduced quality of life. [1] The survival and optimal quality of life of patients with prevalent respiratory diseases such as COPD and asthma or rare diseases such as pulmonary hypertension depend on good access to medical, pharmacological, physical, and psychological rehabilitation treatment.

To bring media and policy-makers attention to this problem, GAAPP has launched a press release that will be distributed to the main media outlets in Ecuador.
