From the President’s Desk

There are no words to adequately express my gratitude to each of you for your participation in the 2023 AGM & Scientific Meeting! We had a record number of organizations represented & the board and staff did am amazing job hosting.

This month is filled with several key developments to keep your eyes on. First, we will participate in the second annual International Respiratory Council Summit at the end of June.

Several members will be speaking & we will share the manifesto on June 26 to call on governments to elevate chronic respiratory diseases. Moreover, we will celebrate World Bronchiectasis Day on July 1 so make plans to amplify the webinar and resources across your community. Finally, let us know your plans for upcoming activities and how we can help with resources or impact funds.

Finally, our GAAPP staff will be evolving to better meet the organizational needs and better support our more than 100 member organizations. I know you all join me in welcoming Ruth Tal-Singer, PhD, as Chief Scientific & Research Officer while also expressing our deep gratitude to Lindsay DeSantis as she moves on from her role as Executive Director. More changes will be announced next month so stay tuned!

Board of Directors Call for Nominations are now open!

During our Annual General Assembly on 8 June 2023 it was announced that GAAPP would accept nominees for both the Vice Secretary and Vice Treasurer positions. If your organization is a GAAPP Member and wants to submit a candidate for these positions submit your nomination below.

Annual General Assembly

Thank you for joining us during our Annual General Assembly 2023. It was great to hear your opinions and ideas and provide a forum to discuss our current and future plans and projects.

GAAPP is pleased to announce that Ruth Tal-Singer, Ph.D., joined our team as Chief Scientific Officer on Friday, 26 May 2023.

Migdalia Denis was officially voted as a Secretary until the next elections for a 3-year cycle during the 2023 Annual General Assembly in Hamburg (Germany).

World Bronchiectasis Day

In honor of World Bronchiectasis Day on 1 July 2023, GAAPP has partnered with our member organization AAIDA to present an educational webinar that will provide the perspectives from a multidisciplinary group of physicians and patients. The session will be broadcast on 1 July. Register here to receive a link to view.

Reminders

GAAPP Funding Requests

As a member organization you are eligible to apply for funding grants to help to achieve your goals and initiatives.

To learn more about the requirements, please visit: gaapp.org/become-a-member/request-for-project-funding/

The deadline for the next request review is 19 June 2023.

New GAAPP Twitter Account

In early November, our Twitter account was hacked, and suspended it. As a result, GAAPP has created a new account that also matches our handles in all the other social media channels @gaapporg. We request that you follow us there and share with your colleagues and community, so we can continue the engagement with your team and patient community. Follow us!
